Investigative Project on Race and Equity Names Kimbriell Kelly Interim Investigations Editor
The Investigative Project on Race and Equity today announced that Kimbriell Kelly has joined the organization as interim investigations editor.
A Chicago native, Kelly brings extensive experience in investigative reporting and newsroom leadership. She began her investigative editing career at The Chicago Reporter, where her work on Countrywide Financial’s subprime mortgage lending contributed to the nation’s largest fair-lending settlement.
Kelly later joined The Washington Post, where she was part of a team that earned the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting for coverage of police-involved shootings.
Most recently, she served as Washington bureau chief for Los Angeles Times, overseeing national political coverage and leading newsroom operations in the capital.
In her role as interim investigations editor, Kelly will help guide the Investigative Project’s reporting and support its mission to produce rigorous, accountability-driven journalism focused on race and equity.
The Investigative Project on Race and Equity welcomes Kelly to the team and looks forward to the leadership and expertise she brings to its growing newsroom.
